Recently my childhood best friend moved back to her hometown of Sun Valley, Idaho so my best friend and I decided to make a fun girls weekend out of it. Skiing for my first time. Learning that “casual” is an interchangeable word for “practical” and not slang for “casual cool,” unlike L.A. Hot tubbing in the snow and catching up with good friends over too many glasses of wine. My weekend was filled with activities and I became quite the expert at après.
Sun Valley, Idaho is a beautiful ski resort town that is pretty much the equivalent of Aspen in Colorado. The food is incredible, there is cute boutique shopping and the mountain-scape is stunning!
When you’re getting away for just the weekend and especially to somewhere cold, its hard not to overpack and stuff your suitcase with layers. Below is how I packed a simplified wardrobe of cute winter essentials.

My friend who we were staying with was so excited to see us, she created an itinerary a month in advance. I’m pretty sure we hit every spot in town in the 3 days we were there. Below is a list of my favorites and some of the most popular and memorable.
Places to eat:
Konditorei for breakfast
Avril’s at Roundhouse for lunch – stunning view of the mountain
Knob Hill
Sushi on Second
Enoteca for dinner
Bars and Nightlife:
The Cellar
Casino
Grumpys
Idaho was a gorgeous weekend getaway and I can’t wait to go back hopefully in the summer next time for good hikes, river rafting and more small town charm.
